President's Message- July 2010
Can you believe that we are half way through 2010? The first six months was quite a roller coaster ride and I must admit that at times I was a little queasy. As we enter the second half of this year I continue to be optimistic that our industry has seen the worst and we will experience a slow but steady growth moving forward. We must, however, continue our vigilant efforts to convince our elected officials of the importance that a healthy home building industry has on our local economy. They need to understand that each new home built creates the equivalent of three jobs for a year and generates about $90,000 in taxes paid to local and federal authorities. The impact is felt across multiple industries. I assure you that we will continue to deliver the message “As goes Construction, so goes the Economy”
A great way to reboot your recovery for the second half of this year will be by attending the 32nd annual Southeast Building Conference/Green Building Show – set for July 22-24 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. This show is all about re-starting your engines and speeding toward success in a rebounding housing, remodeling and construction market. Through education, exhibits and networking, you will discover new tools for the industry’s new rules… and you’ll gain the confidence you need to win. Don’t miss this opportunity to jump-start your business for the new decade.
It’s time to dust off those golf clubs, folks. The Spike Club Bob Joyal memorial 28th annual golf tournament is on July 10th. This is a great networking opportunity and a portion of the proceeds go to the Future Builders of America. There is still time to enter a team, volunteer for the day, or help with a sponsorship so please get involved and make this event a continued success.
Please join me in welcoming our new members for May/June- David Taggart Painting 321-676-0813 and Hutzler’s Soffit & Siding 321-259-2911 . Please take the time to give them a call and welcome them to our organization and remember “Do Business with a Member”.
In closing, I would like to thank all of our members for your continued support. Your membership and participation in the HBCA of Brevard is essential to the success of our industry and community.
